About Me & My Teaching Philosophy
Music started out as a childhood hobby for me and has turned into my passion. I have been teaching for over thirty years in the Ottawa area and many of my students have gone on to pursue music studies in university.
I enjoy teaching a students of all levels and all ages. Lessons are also available at a distance and I have been successfully teaching via video conferencing since 2018.
I encourage all my students to work hard, but most importantly, to have fun. I offer lessons in both leisure and concentrated music studies. I always enjoy preparing my advanced students for Royal Conservatory examinations, but this may not interest everyone! When I studied piano, classical music was the only option. I like to provide my students with a well rounded music experience and give them the opportunity to learn chording, lead sheets, improv, pop music. I value my students' individuality and work hard to achieve student satisfaction. I believe that role models are important and I continue to demonstrate my commitment to education by attending workshops and online training to ensure that what I teach is relevant and interesting.
Music studies offer many benefits including creativity, goal setting, organization, mental therapy, increased concentration, self-motivation and a positive self-esteem. I encourage parents to consider music studies for their children as success in music easily translates into success at school.
